Matt Tucker

Evergreen Boats is owned and operated by Matt Tucker in Hobart, Tasmania.

Matt grew up with five brothers, living on a 48ft Gaff rigged, Herreshoff ketch called New Zealand Maid. She was built by Matt's parents, who still live onboard.

During the 13 years Matt lived on board they sailed around New Zealand, Australia and the Southern Pacific Islands.

Matt has a wealth of sailing experience from long ocean voyages to harbor racing and has sailed in boats of all shapes and sizes.

Some of his highlights include sailing New Zealand Maid to Mururoa Atoll in French Polynesia to protest the Nuclear testing as a 10 year old in 1995, sailing to Antarctica in his brother Ben's 34ft yacht, Snow Petrel and building an experimental racing Proa (outrigger sailing yacht).

Evergreen Boats is a culmination of Matt's significant sailing and boat building experience along with his passion for creating sustainable, classically styled options that make getting on the water accessible to everyone.
